April 2024

Ivy and I attended Warragul's Scent Work trial this month on a day that was cold, windy and wet (our usual trialing weather!!).  After only having 4 training sessions this year she passed her Advanced Vehicles test, finding both hides in just over 1 minute and placing 8th.

We also attempted Advanced Exterior and she found both hides quickly but unfortunately the wind draft blew the scent and she indicated about 4 inches from the actual spot of the 2nd odour so that was a fail.  Her quiet and focused attention to the task without worrying about the people around us or other distractions like cows in the nearby paddock or flapping tarps made me very happy with how she went.

Ivy pictured below indicating on the first (correct) odour in the Exterior test.

We also attended Gippsland Obedience Club Scent Work Trial on 14th April and Ivy was in great form on a day that was sunny and our first without rain!  Ivy passed both her Advanced Interior and Advanced Vehicles in very fast times.  This is her very favourite thing to do!

I would also like to say a big congratulations to "Gomi" Diamondswiss Lion Heart and Blythe for entering their first ever Scent Work Competition at Bedigo this month and coming away with 3 passes out of 3 in Novice Vehicles, Exterior and Interior and all with very fast times.  Gomi is the brother of Sassy who also shows a keen interest  in Scent Work and half brother to Ivy.
